Job Description:

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has an exciting opportunity for a college student to join the Engineering Support team in our Business Technology Support Division (BTSD)! You will be involved in advancing emerging technologies while working with a team performing 3D modeling and CADD workspace management.

This is a full-time internship throughout the summer months with the possibility of continuing your internship on a part-time basis into the fall semester.

Job Duties:

• Design 3D models closely following current 2D standard plans to expand our Bentley workspace and modeling automation capabilities.
• Perform analysis on new Bentley technologies and determine if further discovery efforts are required.
• Collaborate with team members to update and maintain workspace library files ensuring compliance with current design standards.
• Collaborate with team members to create work instructions and training videos for Design team staff.
• Collaborate with team members to design new 'Item Types' for quantity automation and reporting within Bentley technologies.
• Assist other Engineering Support personnel as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Must be a three-fourths student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Currently attending college and working on a degree in Drafting & Design, Civil Engineering, Environmental, Construction Management or related field. Experience working with Bentley MicroStation products performing 3D modeling, CADD management and have a strong desire to research new technologies, processes and workflows.

Other: Applicants must be at least a three-fourths time student and be able to work at least 10 hours a week when classes are in session. Temporary full-time employment may be available during scheduled school breaks. Employment up to 2080 hours or four years, whichever comes first. If employed to 2080 hours, student must take a 30-day break before returning to work. Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic engineering principles related to the design and construction of highway projects.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer or related 3D CADD software platform.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required.
• Strong organizational and public relations skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
