      This is a summer intern position located in Lodi, CA. The selected candidate will work Monday through Friday with every other Friday off (9-80 schedule).

      NCPA is looking for a student engineer to join our team for a summer internship at our Combustion Turbine Projects located in Lodi, CA. Daily assignments will be to assist the engineering department in the maintenance, operations, and improvement of NCPA's fleet of flexible combustion turbine electrical generators. If you are looking for a summer internship that will help link theory to application in the fields of thermodynamics, electrical design, mechanical design, or power systems, this is the internship for you!

      Examples of Duties:

      Perform a variety of duties involving general engineering principles in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering, including gathering, compiling, tabulating, analyzing, and reporting statistical data, and assisting in research projects, special reports, and special projects. This position will compile requests for proposals and bid documents, and update and organize electronic and hard-copy drawings and construction documents. This is a great internship to acquire a working knowledge of department practices, procedures, equipment, and organizational systems. Perform related work as required.

      Knowledge of:

      • General engineering methodologies and industry principles in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
      • Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
      • Strong organizational and good housekeeping habits
      • Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar computer-aided design program is desired, but not required

      Ability to:

      • Communicate in clear, concise, and professional ways, both orally and in writing
      • Collect, compile, analyze, interpret, and present statistical data
      • Flexible and willing to accept a variety of new and interdisciplinary projects
      • Work outdoors as needed, in varying weather conditions, walk up and down steep staircases, and climb ladders

      Qualifications:

      Academic status at an accredited college or university taking courses as a full-time student leading to a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
