      As a student for the Research, Collections and Exhibitions Portfolio, you will assist with food ethnography of the local restaurants in Ottawa, especially in Ottawa South with all the Middle Eastern and North African restaurants, for upcoming the Eat, Make, Share exhibition. You will also assist with ongoing acquisition files including conducting background research and assisting with inventory development.

      What we are looking for:

      The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in one of the following programs: Anthropology, History, Sociology, Folklore. Candidates from other fields will also be considered according to their experience.

      Experience:

      • A background in food ethnography or community-engaged research is preferred.

      Knowledge:

      • Familiarity with the culinary landscape of the National Capital Region and diasporic foodways.

      Eligibility criteria:

      • Must be a full-time student at College or University;
      • Must be returning to full-time studies next session (a proof will be required);
      • Bilingualism: English, Fluency in Arabic would be an asset (given the ethnic and linguistic diversity of the restaurant owners and communities we'd like to work with)
      • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

      Working conditions:

      • 37.5 hours per week.
      • Must be able to travel (Ottawa).
      • Hybrid work: the selected candidate must be available to work on-site at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau a minimum of two days per week.

      Compensation: $17.36/hour to $23.62/hour - according to the student’s level of education;
      Duration: May 26, 2025 to August 15, 2025;
      Workplace: 100 Laurier Street Gatineau, Québec
      Security Clearance: Enhanced Reliability.
