Job Description

- Review Regulatory applications related to land use and process and prepare other regulatory documents for review and issuance of regulatory decisions as required, focusing on cancellations.
- Conduct an administrative and baseline technical review and assessment of land use applications, amendments, and renewals to ensure accuracy and completeness. Make recommendations on applications, in accordance with government policy and regulations and the AER strategic priorities and timelines.
- Ensure that all components of the application/amendment packages are accurately stored and maintained within databases in accordance with policy and legislation.
- Assist with the AER’s mandate expansion of mineral exploration.
- Provide information to applicants and other stakeholders regarding land related documents and submissions including answering questions, discussing submissions, evaluating, and clarifying information.
- Participate in workshops, meetings, conferences, communities of practice or other enterprise initiatives to support continuous improvement.
- Prepare advice and support to Advisors and Managers. Collaborate with AER SME’s and colleagues.
- Enrolled in a Land Administration program.
- High performance in client service.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Risk-Informed decision making.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration.
- Good technical knowledge of the oil and gas industry and detailed knowledge of applicable regulations and AER procedures.
- Proof of enrollment in a registered institution including enrollment in the semester following the work term, or enrollment in a registered co-op program will be a condition of hire.

Employment Type: Student, 4-month term with the possibility of an extension. May - August, 2024
Hourly Wage Range: $19.52 - $24.42 per hour.
Student, Land Analyst – Hybrid

The Land Use team is looking for a student to help process public land use applications. The successful candidate will learn how to process cancellations for public land dispositions including coal exploration permits and oil-sands exploration programs. They will also make recommendations on applications for dispositions, renewals, and amendments related to public lands.
