- High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed
- Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University, Purdue Global or a local accredited college
- Preferably have second year completed in VCD, CGT or similar program’s plan of study
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud- specifically Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign and AfterEffects
- Knowledgeable about design elements, such as color and composition, and creative, artistic ability
- Works with the lead graphic designer on marketing projects including but not limited to creating social media graphics, print and digital marketing collateral, special promotional items or environmental graphics, etc.
- Be timely and organized in completing all discussed position responsibilities
- Ability to learn the visual brand standards of the university, and work to maintain its integrity across all marketing projects
- Attends all meetings as necessary with other team members and clients to gain and/or share pertinent information
- Professional and adaptable when adjusting designs according to client’s feedback
- Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
- Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
- Maintain high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility
- Other duties as assigned

The primary role of the Graphic Design Intern position is to assist the Student Life Marketing team (reporting to the lead graphic designer) in performing daily tasks to market for Student Life. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a marketing environment, leveraging print and digital media.
The Graphic Design Intern position should work 10-15 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor during Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. business office hours.
The Graphic Design Intern position must be reliable, organized, flexible, possess strong typography, layout and design skills and be a currently enrolled student. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative and driven. The ideal intern will be knowledgeable in a Mac environment. Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and AfterEffects is required. Knowledge of social media marketing a plus. Knowledge in AP Style, Content Management Systems, HTML and CSS a plus. The intern is considered an integral part of the Marketing department and as such, their ideas and input will be valued.
Starting Hourly Wage: $11.50

Experience
Prerequisites:
The ideal intern will need to have completed their second year in VCD, CGT or a similar program. A resume and 5-8 portfolio pieces will be required during the interviewing process.
The ideal intern will also be knowledgeable in a Mac environment, or flexible and willing to learn on Mac interface. Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and AfterEffects is also required.
