Qualifications Education/Training Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Licensure/Certification Must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) within six (6) months of placement in this job. Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification. Responsibilities Provides routine treatments and interventions consistent with the educational level and skills learned in the academic environment and demonstrated competency through Orlando Health. Performs advanced skills after achievement of demonstrated competencies such as: nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, and removal; wound irrigation; complex dressing change without packing of wounds; maintenance of enteral tube feeding (Dobhoff, Nasogastric, and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy); and tracheostomy care. Performs increase or continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients as assigned and utilizes the Safe Patient Room Environment Checklist with change of staff or transfer of care as part of handoff for Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients. Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs. Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self and other members of the healthcare team. Assures patient privacy, rights and confidentiality. Follows standard precautions. Adheres to Hand Hygiene and PPE procedures. Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the registered nurse (RN) and other members of the healthcare team. Participates in handoff report and purposeful hourly rounding on patients. Documents information according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines. Transports and assists patients through the admission and discharge process. Transports Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients to diagnostic testing and procedures. Maintains a safe and clean environment. Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers and team members. Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products and medications (excluding substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. May have limited access to areas storing medications. Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls and guest requests.
