      Departmental Overview

      The College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS) is a new, dynamic college at UC Berkeley, representing a significant transformation. It unites faculty, researchers, staff, and students from various disciplines to address the cross-cutting nature of data science and redefine the research university for the digital age.

      The College emphasizes examining how the digital revolution impacts equity and opportunity and building capacity to respond to these challenges. It connects various programs and institutes focused on data science and computational biology. For more information, watch this video about the future home of CDSS in the Gateway Building.

      Responsibilities

      The role involves:

      1. Event Coordination (40%): Planning, logistics, scheduling, and supporting college events, including workshops, community events, research symposia, orientation, and commencement.
      2. Administrative Support (30%): Supporting student programs, managing applications, tracking activities, preparing materials, and assisting with course administration.
      3. Communication Support (25%): Updating website content, managing mailing lists, and advertising programs.
      4. Professional Development (5%): Participating in relevant training and workshops.

      Required Qualifications

      • Knowledge of administrative operations, student services, and event planning.
      • Skills in project management, planning, and analysis.
      • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
      • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice.
      • Initiative, proactive problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
      • Ability to work independently and in teams.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

      Salary & Benefits

      The anticipated salary range is $61,200 - $76,900, with a full range up to $105,200. Benefits details are available on the UC Berkeley website.
