- Effectively interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders.
- Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.
- Monitors the interior school facility and exterior campus for students in violation of school rules and expectations.
- Builds positive relationships with students.
- Monitors student gathering areas such as the commons area and cafeteria.
- Is proactive in preventing incidents of violence, theft, harassment, bullying, and other activities that detract from a safe and secure learning environment.
- Monitors students’ movement on campus.
- Monitors tardy stations.
- Issues Student IDs for students missing IDS.
- Brings to the attention of school administrators and the SRO any information related to potential issues that students may be involved in that do not ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
- Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
- Selects, requests, and maintains an inventory of instructional aides, technology tools, equipment, and supplies needed for daily activities; provides for safe storage and proper use of all materials, tools, and equipment.
- Effectively uses personal technology devices and software applications for the management of pertinent information and communication.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Two (2) year degree or sixty (60) hours of credit from an accredited institution; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Preferred background in law enforcement or other security type career.
- Must become certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention which focuses on the safe management of disruptive and assaultive behavior (training provided by Lexington County School District One upon hire)

Under general supervision assists school administrators and school resource officers with the maintenance of a safe and orderly learning environment. Responsible for the care, welfare, safety, and security of the school, staff, and students. Student Support Monitor must possess the ability to effectively relate to the school’s student population and stay up to date with the latest school security best practices.

Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the school district that pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of school policies, procedures, and operations. Ability to demonstrate proper maintenance, safe operation, and utilization of equipment, materials, and supplies used in daily activities. Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in exercising duties. Ability to anticipate work to be completed and to complete work without the need for direct supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student records and information. Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, teachers, students, and the general public.
Working Conditions
Duties are performed in a school setting with no significant exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to work requiring occasional lifting/moving of items up to twenty-five pounds. Occasional travel is required; no overnight travel required.
Responsibility
No direct budgetary responsibility.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
