      The Subsidiary Rights Department at Penguin Random House is currently hiring for 2 Assistants – one to support the foreign market and the other to support the domestic market. These individuals will work collaboratively to assist in the licensing and promotion of book titles to various outlets including magazines, book clubs, audio publishers, UK publishers, and translation publishers. This position works with adult titles across the Penguin Publishing Group and is an excellent opportunity to gain entry into the field of licensing and publishing.

      Specific responsibilities include:

      1. Assisting senior-level staff.
      2. Drafting pitch letters and negotiating sales of upcoming titles for potential licensees.
      3. Creating deal sheets and monthly deal sheet summaries.
      4. Managing and executing book mailings.
      5. Coordinating art, editorial and publicity requests from domestic and foreign publishers.
      6. Providing production materials and navigating art clearances to licensees.
      7. Compiling rights information and generating blurbs for thrice-yearly seasonal rights guides and for international book fairs.
      8. Maintaining a database of contacts and titles.
      9. Researching and maintaining database for available audio rights.
      10. Collaborating with the PRH Audio and Large Print departments.
      11. Providing general administrative support.

      1. Prior office experience
      2. Genuine interest in domestic and/or foreign subsidiary rights, or licensing
      3. Ability to multitask & prioritize in a deadline driven environment
      4. Excellent organizational skills
      5. Strong attention to detail
      6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      7. Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently
      8. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
      9. Interest in journalism is a plus

      The salary for this position is $48,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
