- Develop design deliverables including substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation grounding, and major equipment wiring diagrams.
- Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for electrical substations with varying voltage levels.
- Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing.
- Coordinate design activities with other departments such as Civil, Structural, and Transmission Line.
- Assign tasks and provide guidance to junior team members and coordinate quality control reviews for work performed by junior engineers and/or designers.
- Collaborate with Senior Engineers and the Business Class Leader to identify and develop specific technical expertise.
- Attend training and seminars focused on the development and understanding of complex concepts related to the discipline.
- Conduct quality control reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
- Perform site visits during all phases of a project, including design, construction, and as-builts.
- Work independently and direct, mentor, train, and supervise efforts of less-experienced Engineers-in-Training (EITs) and/or Designers.
- Proficiency in substation design and electrical engineering.
- Experience with substation physical layout and engineering drawings and calculations.
- Expertise in substation equipment and power delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
- 4-5+ years of experience in substation design, including substation layouts, plans, sections, details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, conduit plans and details, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including AutoCAD, Microstation, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software such as CDEGS.
- Experience working with Southern CA Edison.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $66.00/hr.
