Job Description

- Documents and provides legal transcripts.
- Creates word-for-word transcriptions.
- Accurately documents names of the people and the places involved.
- Assists trial attorneys and judges to organize and search for information from official records.
- Organizes and manages transcripts and documents prepared for submission upon request.
- Adheres strictly to the Code of Judicial Conduct as promulgated by the Supreme Court of Texas.
- Assists the court or Court Coordinator during docket call when instructed by the judge.
- Performs other administrative duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited educational institution
- Must possess a current Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) certificate issued by the Court Reporters Certification Board of Texas.
- General working knowledge of applicable District Courts structure, policies, and procedures.
- Team player - willing to train with, sub in for, and assist court coordinator when needed.
- Ability to meet all court of appeals deadlines for reporters records.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to speak up to ensure an accurate record.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to attend court sessions as assigned and make verbatim official records of the proceedings at a high rate of speed.
- Ability to provide immediate read back of all or a part of a record upon request.
- Ability to prepare transcripts of proceedings upon request, certifying to the accuracy of such transcripts.
- Ability to file official transcripts with the courts of appeals.
- Ability to organize, keep track of, and manage trial and hearing exhibits and file same with courts of appeals as needed.
- Ability to provide dailies and other transcripts to attorneys or the court with very short turn-around time.
- One (1) year of experience working as a licensed court reporter, in a court or freelance.
- Regular Full-time
- Monday - Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Additional Hours May Be Required
- Depends on Qualifications
- Based on 26 Pay Periods
Due to a high volume of applications positions may close prior to the advertised closing date .
Under general supervision, the Court Reporter records, transcribes and maintains records of court proceedings.
