AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - District:
Lombard Elementary District 44 - Assumes all responsibilities or, and duties assigned to, the absent teacher.
- Follows and presents lessons as outlined and described in materials prepared by the absent teacher.
- Adheres to appropriate check-in procedures with the front office.
- Reviews with the principal or their designee plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
- Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which they are assigned.
- Supervises and accounts for students in and out of classroom activities during the working day as assigned. In addition, there may be other duties assigned by the building principal throughout the day outside of the teaching assignment.
- Implements appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Serves as a positive role model for students.
- Manages student behavior in accordance with District policies and procedures.
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Upholds computer technology acceptable use policies.
- Communicates with the regular teacher regarding activities, which took place while the regular teacher was absent.
- Reports to the building principal or their designee at the conclusion of the day to share issues or concerns, as well as check-out as needed.
- Adheres to all procedures as delineated in the District 44 Substitute Handbook.
- Keeps current with best practices and requirements as they relate to the job assignment.
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and classroom management.
- Ability to develop a quick rapport with students, building staff, and administration.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively -- written and verbal.
- Maintain professional appearance.
- Ability to perform non-medical duties, such as hygiene, diapering, feeding with or without accommodations if needed (primarily at the Early Childhood Center).
- Physical Demands:
- Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Frequent walking.
- Occasional lifting to 25 pounds or more (if moving classroom equipment, providing diapering/toileting services, etc.) Daily Teacher Substitute

Starting at $120.00 per day

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic area assigned for the day to help them fulfill their potential intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License or Substitute Teaching License
