      Intern responsibilities will vary based upon your area of interest and department placement. Applying to this opportunity confirms your interest in being considered for one or more of the below departments for summer 2024:

      Customer Process and Performance (Melville, NY)

      The Customer Process and Performance team supports our Customer Organization through process improvements such as reducing inefficiencies, improving performance, increasing quality, and enhancing the overall customer experience with National Grid. The team also measures and tracks the benefits and savings achieved through these process improvement activities. For the summer, you will scope and prepare incoming projects through process mapping, data analysis, and observations, as well as support and co-facilitate workshops and events to diagnose, problem solve and create desired future state. You will also utilize stakeholder engagement and project management skills to implement the changes and complete projects.

      Design and Material Processing (Melville, NY)

      The Design and Material Processing Team works to provide support our Gas Asset Management and Engineering team. The team oversees all tasks related to ordering and procuring material for major complex projects as well as ensuring all permitting is acquired prior to project start. As a Gridtern, you will have the opportunity to assist with various process improvements on material tracking and tracing, as well as help improve the way we apply and track thousands of NYC permits.

      Gas Investment Planning (Melville, NY)

      The Gas Investment Planning team is responsible for the company’s NY 10-year Capital plan, Copperleaf (capital investment database and optimization tool for NY and NE), Capital project Sanction, Closure and DOA governance and Rate case support. For the summer, you will be working on the preparation of annual capital sanction and spending review documents for the upcoming fiscal year, as well as the creation of historical financial reports using Excel, Access, and Power BI.

      NY Operations Support (Hicksville, NY)

      The New York (NY) Operations Support Team drives implementation, adoption, and integration of business controls. The team is responsible for verifying changes to ensure the departments controls and capabilities related to compliances are met. They prepare reports, document findings, and communicate improvement opportunities to stakeholders. They support the entirety of our NY Operations including teams such as - Land Survey, Rights of Way, Facilities, Real Estate, and Capital Projects, Aviation, Fleet, Warehouse, and Environmental. The team’s work is critical to ensuring National Grid can complete our core work of safely and efficiently delivering energy to our customers. For the summer, your projects can align with any of these teams to monitor controls that are in place, implement new controls, identifying risks and mitigating risks that may occur.

      Procurement Strategy - Sustainability Team (Hicksville, NY)

      The Procurement Strategy - Sustainability Team oversees all aspects of Sustainability and Supplier Diversity as it relates to our Supply Chain. The team ensures that we are achieving our Net Zero goals. For the summer, you will work on the Carbon Disclosure Project - assisting our vendors and team with the collection of carbon emissions data. As well as assist with the Supplier Diversity program and relationship management with vendors.

      What You’ll Need

      • Availability to start on program start date, June 3, 2024 and work full-time (40 hours a week) throughout your duration of the summer
      • Registered in school as a full-time student and continuing education full-time for Fall 2024 Semester
      • Pursuing a Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree
      • Majoring in Business, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Project Management, or a related field
      • Accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age
      • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States
      • Located within a commutable distance to the identified work location for the summer
      • Some Gridtern positions will require a valid US Driver’s license. This qualification will be included in the department specific Gridtern role(s) descriptions at point of interview

      Salary Range

      $20.00 - $22.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student)

      $28.00 an hour (Graduate Student)

      Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year. Our Gridtern Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for Gridterns; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements.
