      The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS has locations in Dallas and Austin, TX, Melbourne, FL, and Cypress, CA. EOIS develops, manufactures, and supports infrared and electro-optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles and airborne platforms.       Position Summary

      Leonardo DRS in Dallas Texas, is seeking a software engineering intern to work closely and assist our software engineers in executing various software tasks.

      Basic Qualifications and Required Skills

      • Degree(s) Required: Associate’s Degree or 3rd Year status minimum in an Engineering curriculum
      • Degree(s) Preferred: Undergraduate, Master's in Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
      • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2024 at the DRS Dallas facility
      • Must be enrolled in an accredited university and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA
      • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems

      Desired Skills and Experience

      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
      • Knowledge and experience with one or more programming languages (C, C++, C# or Python)
      • Experience or classroom knowledge of formal data structure
      • Excellent attention to detail
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills
      • Ability to work well both as part of a team or as an individual

      Job Duties and Responsibilities

      • Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of software engineers
      • Provide regular reporting of progress and status
      • Complete assigned tasks on time
      • Gather and assemble data
      • Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of software engineers
      • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
      • Other duties as assigned

      Working Conditions

      • Normal for an office environment
      • Ability to lift 20lbs up to 5% of time
      • Walking/Sitting/Standing up to 25% of time
