Join the HarperOne Group design team as an intern this summer! Learn all about book design while working with the HarperVia, Amistad, HarperEspañol, and MLK Library imprints.

This internship can be based in NYC on a hybrid schedule or fully remote.

The HarperCollins Summer Internship Program is a paid 10 week program which runs from June 3 through August 8. All interns work Monday through Thursday, for a total of 28 hours per week (Monday-Thursday, 9-5). As a HarperCollins intern, you will learn about the entire publishing process - following one book from beginning to end while hearing from the people who worked on it in our weekly lunch and learn series. You will work on a publishing project throughout the summer with your fellow interns and have the opportunity to present your findings to senior staff. There are plenty of opportunities to network, and the end of the program culminates with a presentation called “How to Get a Job in Publishing” – offering advice on your resume, cover letter, interview, and networking. The recruitment team is searching for applicants who identify with groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the publishing industry.

Responsibilities

• Assists with designs for front list covers.
• Designs and routes jacket and cover mechanicals.
• Makes reprint and backlist corrections.
• Provides general assistance on special projects.

Qualifications

• Must be available to start working in a full-time capacity in 2024/2025
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills
• Able to work the full dates of the program (June 3-August 8)
• Must have the ability to prioritize work
• Must have a love of books!
• Applicants must be eligible to work and be paid in the United States
• Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Applicants MUST submit a cover letter and a link to an online portfolio. Applications without cover letters will not be considered.

Interns will be paid $18 per hour.
