      Position Summary

This internship position will be a part of the Target Sciences group within the Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) group at Bristol Myers Squibb. The individual in this role will be responsible for analyzing multi-omics (e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics) data and human genetics data from biobanks, through methods such as Mendelian Randomization and colocalization, to discover causal relationships that can be used in drug discovery. This project also aims to identify the best practices for downstream use of these methods to identify specific patient populations for drug discovery. The ideal candidate will have experience in analyzing large-scale genetics data from biobanks, with experience in analyses of multi-omics data preferred. This position will provide the intern with an opportunity to learn about the application of statistical genetics approaches to support drug programs, both in the target discovery and late-stage contexts.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Integrate multi-omics data (e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics) with genome-wide association study (GWAS) data in order to generate hypotheses regarding novel drug targets
      • Develop methodology for the application of integrative analysis (e.g. colocalization, Mendelian Randomization) to optimize drug discovery
      • Utilize results from integrative analysis of proteomics/genetics data to drive patient selection hypotheses
      • Communicate findings of the analyses to a broader audience as part of a presentation at the end of the summer

      Qualifications & Experience

      • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in biostatistics, human genetics, bioinformatics or a related field
      • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (R, Python, C++) for complex data analysis
      • Experience in analyzing high-dimensional, biobank-level data (e.g., UK Biobank)
      • Experience in the integrative analysis of eQTL/pQTL data with GWAS through techniques such as Mendelian Randomization or colocalization
