      Position Summary

      The Summer Intern position will support various departments within the district to help achieve key goals during the summer term. This is a hands-on, learning-focused opportunity designed for students or recent graduates who are interested in education, public administration, communications, or a related field. The intern will assist with administrative tasks, special projects, and day-to-day operations while gaining valuable insight into the inner workings of Boerne ISD.

      Interns may be assigned to work in areas such as teaching and learning, student support services, human resources, communications, technology or operations, based on need and interest. This role requires a proactive attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

      Minimum Requirements

      • High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency OR current high school student of Boerne ISD.
      • Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate.

      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace
      • Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
      • Professional demeanor and strong organizational skills

      Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

      • Assist in day-to-day administrative functions and project coordination
      • Organize, file, and manage digital and paper records
      • Help prepare reports, presentations, and communications materials
      • Participate in school district events or initiatives
      • Support technology needs, including updating websites or databases (if applicable)
      • Collaborate with staff to improve departmental efficiency and organization
      • Assist department staff as needed
      • Attend to BISD visitors with professionalism and courtesy
      • Maintain and assist with the operation of office equipment as needed
      • Adhere to district procedures regarding confidentiality
      • Other duties as assigned

      Supervisory Responsibilities

      Working Conditions

      Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

      Posture: Frequent walking, Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

      Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse. Occasional reaching.

      Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).

      Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise.

      Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions and prolonged or irregular hours.
