Summer internship 2024

Do you want to find out what it’s like to work at a global asset manager in Rotterdam? Eager to be part of the collaborative environment of investing, with a pioneer in the field of Sustainable Investing? Our 2024 summer internship program is an eight-to-ten-week internship for students at our global head office in Rotterdam. During the internship, you will be fully immersed into the activities of one of our departments and make a real impact. The program is designed to give you meaningful, fun and challenging experiences, as well as show you what it’s like to be part of Robeco.

Where you will work

Summer interns are recruited in Fundamental Equity, Fixed Income, Quant Research, Multi-Asset Investing, Sustainable Investing, Client Portfolio Management, Data Science, and Trading departments. During the application process, you can express interest in a specific department. If invited for interviews, you will have conversations with colleagues from the corresponding department.

• Fundamental Equity investing is where it all started for Robeco and arguably the purest form of investing: people trying to find the most attractive companies to invest in. We base our investment decisions on in-depth fundamental research into businesses, sectors, macroeconomics and trends.
• Fixed Income investing is where complexity meets creativity. Join to contribute to identifying investment opportunities based on in-depth research and contrarian thinking. The fixed income team invests in government and company-issued debt across a wide variety of sectors, countries, and ratings. We offer opportunities across Global Macro and Credit Research.
• Quantitative Research i s in Robeco’s DNA. Join to contribute to investment decisions by uncovering hidden relationships in the data using state-of-the-art techniques. We offer opportunities across Quantitative Fixed Income and Quantitative Equities Research.
• Multi-Asset investing is at the intersection of various asset classes. Join to contribute to delivering superior, research-driven, sustainable strategies and designing innovative solutions that fit clients’ needs. The team manages assets across multi-asset funds, discretionary multi-asset solutions, and customized liability and buy-and-maintain fixed income solutions.
• Sustainable investing is one of the core pillars of Robeco’s investment approach. Join this team to deliver real-world changes via engaging with companies to encourage them to improve their ESG performance and drive research into key areas such as climate change, biodiversity, and the UN SDGs. We offer opportunities across Sustainability Engagement and Sustainability Investing Research.
• Client Portfolio Management is a linking pin between Investments and Sales. Join this team to contribute to servicing Robeco’s clients by sharing insights about Robeco products and assisting with client requests & questions. We offer opportunities to join Client Portfolio Management teams across Sustainable Investing, Fundamental Equities, Quant and Fixed Income.
• Data Science & Trading make the investment world go round. Join this team to contribute by finding smarter execution strategies via trade data analysis, making sense of the latest available data on sustainability, uncovering behavioral biases in investment processes, building tools to share such insights, and supporting traders. We offer opportunities across Data Science and Trading.

Position & Requirements

What you will experience

Join us for a collaborative learning journey at Robeco. We'll welcome you with an introduction to Robeco, followed by some training sessions. After that, you'll immerse yourself in the day-to-day activities of the department you will be part of. Your involvement can include participating in a research project, contributing to several assignments, or assisting with daily operations of the team.

Examples of how you could contribute during your internship:

• Write a white paper on a technology trend and assess which companies are best positioned to benefit from it.
• Assess how to engage with a group of polluting companies to improve their impact on the world.
• Improve real-time predictions of the state of the economy using nowcasting.
• Use new or alternative data sources to identify new factor premiums.
• Research which suppliers of batteries to electric vehicle producers have good long-term prospects and whose debt might be undervalued.
• You will also participate in social activities, meet with senior management, and connect with people outside of your department to build your network.

We appreciate quick learners, creative minds and critical thinkers. We aim to recruit a diverse generation of interns in terms of gender, nationality, educational background and personality.

Internship vacancies at Robeco in Rotterdam are open to students (second-year Bachelor’s and higher) enrolled at a university on at least the first day of their internship. Our interns must also be eligible for a residence permit to do an internship in the Netherlands. This means we can recruit EU citizens studying at a global university or non-EU citizens studying at a Dutch university.
