      The City of Coral Springs Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an Intern to join our team this Summer!

      Rate of Pay: Undergrad College - $15.00

      Summer Internships are planned to run from June 9th to August 1st. The program goal is to introduce college and university students to the various aspects of municipal government. The program is designed to provide student with real experience to enhance their academic and professional endeavors.

      The City of Coral Springs Parks and Recreation Department Internship program encompasses all aspects of the department's operations. To enhance the student intern's experience, they will be exposed to each area of the department's functions and those of other City Departments. During the internship they will observe how the Parks and Recreation Department and its divisions function and will participate in projects, research, recreation programs and special events. Through orientation, observation and participation, the student intern will gain experience in each of the following areas:

      Departmental administration:
      • Overview of department's mission and the services provided to the community
      • Administrative operations including budgeting, financial procedures and record keeping
      • Strategic planning, human resource management, marketing, community outreach, citizen and customer service
      • Develop leadership skills through interactions with staff and the community
      • Develop, implement and analyze data through research, surveys and benchmarking
      Help develop and maintain a GPS asset management system.

      Recreation:
      • Programming of classes and facilities in recreation, aquatic and tennis divisions
      • Special events – planning, implementation and evaluation
      • Summer camp, special needs and senior programs – observe and participate in established programs; development, implementation and evaluate a new program

      Facility and public property maintenance:
      • Learn about the roles of the in-house and contractual maintenance operations; participate in the maintenance of park, facilities, public properties and environmental areas

      City department rotation:
      • Learn through observation and participation the operations of other City departments
      • Possibly working with other City interns on developing and presenting a project
      • Attend community meetings and presentations . • Currently pursuing an Undergrad degree.
      • Majoring in Parks, Recreation, Leisure, Fitness Studies or a closely related field.
      • Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week and attend mandatory on-boarding program.
      • May require attendance at after-hours business meetings or City events.
      Basic office and computer skills All interns must pass a required background screening:
