- Copies materials and manuals. Types basic information on envelopes, labels, or similar reference sources.
- Operates standard office equipment including computer, typewriter, facsimile, and shredding and copy machines. Operates scanner for imaging official records using the City's Electronic document management system.
- Provides back-up for other employees as directed.
- Performs related work as required.
- Use of computer and spreadsheet entry and file maintenance programs preferred.
- Performs routine ground maintenance, maintenance and repair on assigned equipment, assist in needed repairs.
- Janitorial Duties such as sweeping, mopping and trash removal.
- Performs related work as required under supervision.
- Will assist Meter services with changing out meters, installing new meters, installing and changing out meter boxes and other related duties.
- Knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in light maintenance. Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions helpful.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Answers all telephone lines (E911 and administrative).
- Receives complaints, calls for help, reports of deaths, injuries, suicide attempts, robberies, fires, accidents, burglaries, alarms, missing persons, stolen vehicles, etc. Dispatches the proper unit(s) to respond (ambulance, fire apparatus, wrecker, etc.)
- Determines the nature and location of the emergency; determine priorities, and dispatch police, fire ambulance or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures.
- Receives and records all data reported for officer response. Analyzes the information for input into the Computer Aided Dispatch System.
- Operates CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch), E911 PSAP system, administrative telephones, and City computer system (to include proper City internet access).
- Maintains numerous records and logs including keeping a shift activity pass-on.
- Enters, updates, and retrieves information from a variety of computer systems.
- Performs “clerical” duties (such as filing, typing, and answering phones) and computer related work as required.
- Ability to learn department procedures/duties.
- Ability to maintain poise, to think clearly, to remain calm, and to respond to emergencies under stressful conditions.
- Ability to speak with a clear, well-modulated voice and to use proper grammar.

- Use wheeled carts to remove trash from multiple locations throughout the marina to include docks and boater’s lounges
- Assist in cleaning restrooms, showers, laundry room, boater’s lounges and breakroom.
- Assist boaters with docking their boats in slips and also leaving out of their slip.
- Refuel boats. Assist boater’s in docking and taking on fuel.
- Assist boaters with pumpouts. (removing waste products from their tanks)
- Mowing grass using a push mower and also zero-turn mower.
- Use gas-powered string trimmers (weed-eaters) and edgers.
- Greet customers and answer questions. Determine needs and direct to proper person.
- Provides back-up for other employees as directed.
- Performs related work as required.
- Plan and implement new projects with City Staff associated with process improvement and providing effective service.
- Conducts research and gathers resource material associated with project scope.

Summer Youth Initiative Program
June 3, 2024 - July 26, 2024The City is offering summer youth employment for various positions. These job opportunities provide students with a meaningful, paid work experience in a municipal government environment. Employment opportunities include Police Intern, 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) Intern (18 yrs. and older - subject to program guidelines), Clerical, Light Maintenance, Fire Intern, Special Projects Assistant, Information Technology Intern and Marina Intern. Incumbent performs a variety of tasks (see job description below). Incumbent must deal with all levels of City employees, supervision and the public with tact and courtesy. CLERICAL ASSISTANT
This is varied clerical work. Incumbent performs a variety of clerical tasks, including reception/switchboard operation, data entry, and maintenance of records. Incumbent must deal with all levels of City employees, supervision and the public with tact and courtesy. Work is performed according to well established procedures.

LIGHT MAINTENANCE
This is light maintenance and repair work on equipment and structures. Incumbent assists highly skilled mechanics in one of the following areas: water and wastewater plants/pumping stations; furniture maintenance/repair, carpentry, painting and plumbing; and/or ground maintenance. Assignments are routine and repetitive and follow prescribed practices. Work is performed under the direction of any employee of higher classification.KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Highly responsible work receiving and disseminating all police, fire rescue, and medical calls for service via the E911 System. This is a most critical position due to the fact that the majority of the calls for help are initially received by the dispatcher. Reports to the Communications Supervisor.

FIRE INTERN
POLICE INTERNThis position is a temporary internship spanning over the summer weeks. The position will be assisting full-time employees in several different sections throughout the police department and conducting an array of specific tasks. He/she will learn many aspects of law enforcement to include evidence collection, records retention, crime analysis, and administrative duties such as grant writing and external compliant procedures. This position will attend a court proceeding such as a criminal trial or evidentiary hearing to reinforce the importance of our procedures. In addition, this position will be given a project to be completed by the end of the internship and he/she will be presenting this to our command staff at one of our departmental staff meetings.
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work for this position as necessary.
Learns process of evidence collection and the legal guidelines in retaining this evidence.
Learn each of the sections of the police department, their duties and responsibilities, and understand how they all integrate to create a completed case.
Assists in preparation of bicycle and property auctions.
Reviews available law enforcement grants and presents data to the Administrative Commander.
Attend criminal court proceedings and evaluate outcomes.
Conduct several Officer Ride-A-Longs.
Sit with detective and review non-classified case reports and investigations.
Review correspondence from the general public, attorneys, judges, other law enforcement agencies, files, faxes, telephones and copies.
Conduct research on a law enforcement topic and present findings and recommendations to staff at a staff meeting.
Attends or conducts staff meetings to exchange information.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

911 PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATOR INTERNHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of Florida Department of Health 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator Course. Must be 18 years or older (subject to program guidelines).
ADDITIONAL SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Required to pass 232-hour state-required training course and have obtained the State 911 PST Certification. Work may involve rotating shift; includes weekends, and emergency events.
FIRE INTERNEnrolled in High School, College or equivalent is required. Experience working with children or working towards a degree in education, communications, marketing. Use of computer and spreadsheet entry, file maintenance, familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.), website content development, creative problem-solving skills, multitasking in a deadline driven environment, excellent written and verbal communication skills preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
POLICE INTERNMust be 18 years of age or older (subject to program guidelines). Requires high school diploma or GED. Must be attending college with intentions of pursuing studies in Criminal Justice, Crime Scene Analysis, Law, Pre-Law, and Public Administration with a Minor in law related studies. Must have no felony convictions and pass a Civilian Background Check for CJIS Compliance, other pre-employment inquires.Depending on assignment, possession of a valid Florida Operator's license with acceptable driving record and/or Student ID.
