      Department Overview:

      MSCR or Madison School & Community Recreation is Madison’s public recreation provider. We offer everything you would find in your typical community rec department in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming, arts & enrichment, adult & 50+ fitness, sport leagues, outdoor pursuits and more. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District(MMSD), we also provide afterschool and summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools.

      8 hour shifts vary between 7:15am and 5:15pm 5 days a week.

      Qualifications:

      Minimum Qualifications:
      Flexibility and ability to adapt to dynamic camp environment
      Interest in learning about a wide range of topics with participants in all arts categories
      Staff must be able to engage with participants in every program and maintain enthusiasm for all programs.
      Dependability, teamwork and enthusiasm required.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      1+ years experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds in a day camp or education setting.
      1+ years experience creating and implementing lesson and activity plans.
      Bilingual Spanish a plus.
      Lifeguard certification a plus.

      Other Information:
      Must be creative & enthusiastic.
      MUST BE AVAILABLE ALL PROGRAM DATES and TIMES.
      Must be available for mandatory training June 10th-14th.

      We are looking for energetic and hard-working emerging leaders who want to make a difference in kids lives this summer. The Super Center Camp Counselor role is to lead groups of campers through camp activities while acting as a positive role model and encouraging campers to explore new interests and activities. Candidates for Camp Counselors must be enthusiastic, polite, take initiative, and work as part of a team. Ideal candidates have experience with behavioral and classroom management, transition tools and tricks, and time-filler activities.

      Job Duties:
      Assist Specialty Instructors in implementing specialized activities,
      Actively participate in activities when not leading project/activity,.
      Create enthusiastic, engaging, and inclusive environment for participants.
      Provide behavior management for groups of 12-20 children.
      Communicate with parents regarding participant progress and behavior.
      Ensure safety of 60+ campers.
      Plan and lead elective activities.
      Actively participate in swimming and field trip days.
