      The Materials & Processes Engineering Alloy Development Group is seeking a highly motivated Superalloys Technician to assist in the development of new material development and production support activities. The individuals will be focused on the preparation, review, and analysis of metallographic samples in support of the engineering activities related to commercial, military, and developmental engine programs.

      What You Will Do

      Technician will work as a member of a cross functional team to generated needed materials data to support various engine programs.

      Technician will work directly with engineers to document and execute the evaluation plan for the material.

      Material evaluations will comprise: Sectioning, Mounting, and Polishing and documentation of samples to obtain information for the respective part(s)

      Documentation will include capturing microstructural images using digital cameras, optical microscopes, and scanning electron microscopy.

      Technical will complete documentation of specimen removal locations using CAD software

      What You Will Learn:

      • Candidate will learn the details about Nickel and Titanium superalloys, Bearing and Gear Steels chemistry and microstructures.

      • Candidate will learn how to analyze and interpret microstructures.

      • Candidate will learn how to characterize fracture surfaces and how to collect chemical information in the SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope).

      Qualifications You Must Have:

      • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) and 2+ years of laboratory experience.

      • Examples of Laboratory Experience: Using test equipment to evaluate the properties of a material, collection of measurement and/or relevant test data related to a sample, preparation and evaluation of a sample to understand the microstructure of the material.

      • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

      Qualifications We Prefer:

      • Basic Microsoft Office PC skills.

      • Experience in the metallurgical evaluation of aerospace alloy systems operating in a gas turbine engine environment (i.e. titanium alloys, bearing and gear steels, and nickel-based super alloys).

      • Able to perform in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

      • Familiar with CAD software (Unigraphics, SolidWorks, etc.).

      Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

      Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

      The salary range for this role is 40,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
