      Title Code: Superintendent Associate: School Performance and Support JOB SUMMARY Bears full management responsibility for all schools, school leadership, and school performance. Serves as a principal advisor to the Chief Academic Officer, the Associate Superintendent directs the organization, administration, staffing, and supervision of schools and personnel in the Office of School Performance and creates framework for effective supervisors. Collaborates with other departments and divisions to promote key school improvement initiatives and to monitor the progress and trends resulting from this work. The Associate Superintendent is a resource for principals, for parents, for community members, and for Board of Education Members who seek clarification for school practices and actions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Meets regularly with the Executive Team to establish goals and to develop procedures for program implementation, school and program evaluation, staffing, and other activities and procedures related to the operation of schools. Collaborates with all academic departments to establish the instructional, curriculum and assessment direction of the system. Offers input to system wide professional development centered on leadership growth. As a result of interviews, make recommendations to the Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer for the promotion of Unit I, II, V and VI candidates, as well as other staffing matters. Collaborates with and supervise the Assistant Superintendents for Instruction and School Performance and Directors of School Support through regular meetings and communications to share and address school performance matters. Investigates and responds in writing to level III Formal Complaints. Collaborates with members of the Office of School Performance and Support to manage and appropriate funding and staffing. Contributes to the negotiations and agreements involving Units I, II, III, and IV. Contributes to the revision of Policy and Regulations when recommended. Attends school and system functions, including but not limited to graduations, athletic events, award ceremonies, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Master's Degree in Education or Administration and Supervision or related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required. Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration from a regionally accredited college or university preferred; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience 10 or more years successful performance in teaching and administrative capabilities of increasing responsibility including three (3) years experience as a principal required; and Five (5) years Central office or District-wide responsibility experience dealing with school improvement, staffing, evaluation and supervision of schools required; and School-based teaching and/or administrative experience at multiple levels preferred; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Strong diplomatic skills to maintain working relationships, including resolving conflict or formal complaints with staff, parents, public officials, community members, and students. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and human relations skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations. Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred). Language Requirements Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish preferred. Licenses and Certifications Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment. Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required. Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Administrator II Certificate issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required. Hold or be eligible for Superintendent I Certificate issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required. Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and Daily access to reliable transportation. Driving Requirements Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.
