      Role Objective: Ensure customer requirements are met by taking ownership of an entire shift, leading and motivating all departments to collaborate towards continuous improvement of product quality and production efficiency. To be responsible for safety, quality, production, cleanliness, team spirit and to collaborate with plant leadership on the professional development of each associate on the shift so goals can consistently be met.

      What does a day in life look like?

      • Facilitate team meetings related to safety, quality, cleanliness, productivity, and continuous improvement.
      • Audit and coach group leaders on team management and daily escalations.
      • Comply with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
      • Provide leadership to employees by encouraging positive employee engagement.
      • Directly coaches employees and maintains a physical presence on the shift.
      • Manage the performance of group leaders with the appropriate recognition, feedback, and learning.
      • Ensure that safety, quality, and 5S standards are met.
      • Communicate all pertinent information and update production schedules with opposite shift leaders at shift overlap.
      • Assist the team and leadership to ensure customer requirements are met.
      • Ensure that safety, quality, production, and delivery targets are met
      • Ensure that correct process control and associated documentation is utilized.
      • Ensure all incidents whether accident, quality or otherwise are documented immediately and reported to the appropriate leadership.
      • Ensure cross functional teams are carrying out problem solving sessions to get to root cause and taking effective countermeasures in a timely manner.
      • Ensure conformance to procedures and standard work instructions.
      • Develop “Team Ownership” of the areas and processes.
      • Ensure efficient upkeep and utilization of equipment and appropriate operator PM.
      • Strive to improve all floor management Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) on the shift.
      • Perform any additional and appropriate tasks determined necessary by leadership.

      Experience:

      • Understanding of manufacturing shop floor environment.
      • Basic math and measurement device uses (tape measure, calipers, gauges, etc.)
      • Understanding of performance metrics (KPI’s) for each department
      • Basic computer and data entry knowledge
      • Understanding of company, policies, procedures, and union contract parameters.
      • Understanding of plant flow complexity and contingency plans.
      • Proficient knowledge of essential leadership principles
      • Proficient understanding of human behavior and motivation.

      Technical Skills:

      • Interact effectively with team members and all stakeholders in a team environment.
      • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
      • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
      • Managing own time and the time of the team.
      • Act as a servant leader and facilitator to the team.
      • Effectively advise up to department leadership and escalate as needed.
      • Effectively push down unnecessary escalations and encourage ownership of group leader and FRT level.
      • Recognize when additional department resources are required and motivate additional collaborators to engage with the team. Escalate and demand support as needed to ensure plant success.
      • Be an effective decision maker and collaborate with the team.

      • Understand and follow instructions and to escalate issues as required.
