      Job Description

      NBC News is seeking an experienced Supervising Producer with strong editorial judgment who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom. This is an ideal position for a versatile, seasoned professional with a strong interest in news and current events to contribute to developing a new daily show.

      The Supervising Producer will work with the executive producer to pitch stories and delegate assignments to a small team, troubleshooting scheduling and other logistics as needed, and building relationships across the newsroom to cultivate talent and a reliable roster of guests.

      The Supervising Producer will also be expected to edit interviews in Descript and ProTools, or similar digital audio software, and jump in on any aspects of production as needed, from researching and booking guests to drafting show scripts and quickly writing sharp copy.

      Responsibilities:

      • Identifying and pitching daily coverage for the podcast and suggesting guests
      • Working with the team to develop best workflow practices and delegate tasks
      • Drafts show scripts/segments as needed, in collaboration with hosts, producers and EP
      • Helps guide shape and tone of episodes by working with hosts and producers
      • Provides editorial guidance to junior producers on writing and cutting down tape
      • Develops recurring segments and special episodes to elevate the podcast
      • Generates timely and informed pitches to drive show growth and reach
      • Coaches hosts, producers and correspondents to develop internal talent
      • Works with standards and legal departments to clear content for publication
      • Fills in for Executive Producer as needed

      Qualifications

      • At least 10+ years of newsroom production experience
      • Excellent writing and editing skills
      • Strong knowledge of news and current events
      • Understanding of journalistic ethics and best practices
      • Experience editing audio and video, weekly or daily show experience preferred
      • Understanding of competitive space for daily news podcasts
      • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects under deadline
      • Collaborative attitude and strong communication skills
      • Fluency with Descript and ProTools, or similar digital audio software

      Additional Requirements:

      • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

      What we’ll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regular who works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:

      • Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months
      • Eligible for Health and Welfare benefits on 1st day of employment
      • Eligible to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Program after 90 days of employment

      Salary range: $120,000 - $155,000
