      National Grid is hiring a Damage Prevention Supervisor for our MA Gas Operations Programs and Damage Prevention department in Waltham, MA

      Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to Federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation (“DOT”) covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

      Oversee the operational workload and monitor the performance of team members to ensure that all work tasks comply with Company, Federal and State policies.

      To be responsible for the safety and security of the gas distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel in order to complete job tasks while complying with company and regulatory requirements.

      Key Accountabilities

      Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

      • Supervise a union workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
      • Ensure supervised team comply with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
      • Review, ensure accuracy and execute the approval of area purchase orders, invoices and payroll activities.
      • Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes.
      • Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure work is performed efficiently and effectively.

      Promote and implement best practices to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
      • 5+ years of experience managing a union workforce preferred.
      • Technical proficiency with gas field operations preferred.
      • Demonstrated experience building effective & respectful working relationships required.
      • Ability to perform off-hour coverage required.
      • Valid driver’s license required.
      • Proven experience proactively making changes to improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness of processes required.
      • Flexibility in yard coverage required.

      More Information

      Salary - $88,000 - $119,000

      The position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position, gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
