- Designs and redesigns safe and technically sound products that meet the design requirements.
- Estimates resource requirements and coordinates with the Engineering Manager to maintain compliance with planned headcount, budgets, and schedules.
- Provide CAD/Configurator/PDM expertise, direction, and coordination with IT for system capabilities and hardware requirements in various documentation environments.
- Issues accurate and complete engineering documentation for the generation of engineering and manufacturing databases and fabrication of parts in the factories.
- Completes special assignments or projects in a timely manner by considering quality, manufacturing requirements, system efficiency, functionality, and cost.
- Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates a competent staff assuring optimum use of individual and collective capabilities. Manage KBE resource allocations and meet Project deliverables to fulfill Product Development objectives and schedules.
- Ensures KBE group conformance with New Product Introduction and ISO documentation.
- Establish, monitor, and implement consistent design documentation practices. Ensure KBE group establishes and delivers consistent drawing documentation practices (format and content) as well as consistent bill of material structures.

- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Ten plus years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office software suite and Internet software.
- Able to directly supervise 7-10 employees in the Knowledge-Based Engineering department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Daikin Applied is seeking a Supervisor, Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) who will supervise KBE staff to effectively manage configuration content, and generate CAD, drawings, and bills of materials needed by Manufacturing to build products. This includes newly designed equipment, special products, and the maintenance of existing products. The role will establish the policies and procedures within the department and originate and develop ideas to support and/or create the Engineering Automation Systems.
