      Job description:

      Overall Job Purpose:

      This role exists to lead the lubrication team with necessary skills and support to perform lubrication tasks with consistency, accuracy and in line with industry best practices for the management, storage and handling of the lubricants.

      Specific Job Responsibilities:

      The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

      • Conduct regular inspections of all machinery and equipment to identify lubrication needs.
      • Monitor that the work management process is followed and that all the lubrication PM’s are executed.
      • Review and generate the alerts and work requests from oil analysis results.
      • Implement and maintain a comprehensive database with all the oil analysis results.
      • Implement and maintain a comprehensive database with all the lubrication points, type of lubricant, frequency and quantity.
      • Provide the necessary resources for the team to execute their work in a safe and technically correct manner.
      • Evaluate and recommend new equipment and processes to improve the lubrication standards.
      • Develop and implement lubrication schedules to ensure timely maintenance.
      • Oversee the application of lubricants to various machinery components.
      • Support maintenance data to predict equipment availability and reliability. Come up with data to formulate equipment maintenance strategy.
      • Manage the process plant lubrication storage facilities and related equipment.
      • Take precision measurements of selected plant and warehouse components.
      • Any other duties as assigned by the manager.
      • Contributes to reducing and eliminating unsafe acts and conditions for workers, contractors and equipment, by supporting the application of appropriate techniques and safe work practices.
      • Shortlist and report defects to Senior Condition Monitoring Specialist in order to support CBM work.
      • Supervise and train lubrication technicians and maintenance staff.
      • Assign tasks and monitor the performance of the lubrication team.
      • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintenance standards.
      • Execute post repair analysis of replaced components to improve analysis accuracy
      • Supports reliability processes such as defect elimination, root cause analysis, etc.
      • Maintain detailed records of lubrication activities, including types of lubricants used and maintenance performed.
      • Prepare and submit reports on lubrication activities and equipment performance.
      • Record all oil top ups and report oil usage monthly.
      • Maintain detailed records of lubrication materials in our custody and monitor the stock level of frequently used lubricants.
      • Manage the inventory of lubricants and related supplies.
      • Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained and reorder supplies as needed.
      • Develop and maintain the contamination control strategic plan.
      • Develop and support contamination control specialists.
      • Ensure oil analysis reports are reviewed and acted upon where applicable as part of Condition based monitoring program.
      • Plant gearbox breather health monitoring management.
      • Plant gearbox dip stick managing.
      • Identifying EH&S risks and exposures in the analysis and recommendation for change.
      • Take every opportunity to minimise environmental impacts of lubrication activities and to use resources as efficiently as possible to promote sustainable development.
      • Contributing to the identification of the significant Health and safety risks of the equipment.
      • Ensuring that incidents related to health, safety or the environment are reported and assist in investigations to identify any additional controls required.
      • Attend and contribute to regular safety meetings.
      • Respond in a timely manner to all requests for service from respective sections or management.
      • Use interactive and real-time data to help predict maintenance needs well in advance, thus enabling better planning and support services.
      • Identify ways to do things faster, better, at less cost, with less waste, etc.
      • Strives to create a “wow” experience for the customer (maintenance and operations).

      Job Specific Competencies:

      • Competency on predictive maintenance techniques, such as oil analysis, bearing lubrication quantity and quality accuracy, health monitoring, etc.
      • Knowledge of process plant equipment and their diagnostics and fault analysis.
      • Must be computer literate i.e., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project.

      Key Job Attributes:

      • Must have data presentation and report writing skills and have demonstrated the ability to self- manage their workload.
      • Have good communication skills in the English language with an emphasis on writing skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and achieve required operational outputs.
      • Ability to attend to multiple requests in a timely manner.
      • Skilfully handles formal procedures and informal processes with a high level of attention to detail.

      Qualifications:

      • Grade 12 Twelve Certificate.
      • Diploma – Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
      • Machine Lubrication Level 1 (MLA1) not a requirement, but added advantage.
      • Must have a valid driver’s licence and having driving experience for 12 months.
