      Summary of Job Responsibilities

      The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Supervisor of Dental Assistants is responsible for the supervision and development of the Dental Assistant employees of the Dental department. This position works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide quality therapeutic and culturally acceptable direct care and skill-building dental services. Supervisor of Dental Assistants is expected to handle assignments that are tied to Joint Commission, OSHA, Hazardous, Biohazardous, Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement compliance. Practice as an active member of the Integrated Dental Care Team with a level of professionalism that creates, develops and nurtures culturally appropriate interactions. The Supervisor of Dental Assistants is responsible for the day-to-day performance of a group of Dental Assistant employees and also providing dental assistant services within the program. The supervisor is responsible for guiding and coordinating the work of the group of dental assistants towards established goals and objectives.
      This position has two (2) levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between job levels is based on the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.

      Qualifications:

      SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. Such knowledge is critical to ensure the achievement of SCF’s Vision of, “A Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness” and SCF’s Mission of, “Working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services”:

      1. High School diploma; OR GED.
      2. Two (2) years progressive experience as a Dental Assistant; OR demonstrated proficiency working at SCF as a Dental Assistant II.
      3. Completion of SCF’s Dental Assistant Training Program; OR completion of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) approved dental assisting program.
      4. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO and PALS as required for specialty and any certification relating to the scope of practice as required.

      Additional Qualifications for Supervisor of Dental Assistants II: Meets all requirements of Supervisor of Dental Assistants I in addition to the following:

      1. Two (2) years of demonstrated experience at the Supervisor of Dental Assistant I level;
      2. OR demonstrated proficiency as a Supervisor of Dental Assistant I at SCF

      Native Preference:
