- Responsible for the supervision of hourly and salary departmental personnel and daily departmental operation
- Must be familiar with a variety of standard concepts, practices and procedures, and company policies. Relies on metrics that measure incoming and outgoing demands, along with experience and judgment to plan and accomplish department/organizational goals
- Responsible to promote safe work practices
- Must be able to work with Electric Boat operating systems
- Responsible for processing incoming material from vendor
- Responsible for developing and implementing short and long term inventory and material goals/plans
- Independent creativity and latitude is expected
- Promote and actively support EBQP Process Improvement System and attain facility departmental goals
- Must be able to work with the EBQP Process Improvement Team and define and eliminate waste to reduce the cost of material handling
- Must also be able to document the process and provide training to the team members
- Will manage rejection and department work orders
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years of combined supply chain and leadership experience, including the technical processes of warehousing and buffer storage
- Must be able to attain hazmat transportation qualifications
- Must be available to all shifts
- Must understand safe operating procedures for various forklifts as well as understand and be able to work with EB Inventory Tracking system
- Must be very well versed in warehousing concepts and business systems
- Must have strong interpersonal skills interfacing with hourly, salary, and upper management
- Must be able to manage functions that include warehouse and material distribution areas
- Must be flexible and able to work in all warehouse areas
- Ability to understand and be able to learn Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-Point
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
- Associates degree or higher in Business or Supply Chain Management
- Navy/Military
- Shipyard Experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented and organized
- Strong MRPii and other warehouse business systems
- Organizational skills, interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Strong commitment toward safety
Overview
General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Supervisor of Logistics for 2nd Shift.
