    • Minimum of Master’s degree, preferably in subject area
    • Must possess a N.J. Supervisor Certificate.
    • Undergraduate and/or graduate major in subject field
    • Five years of teaching experience in World Language and/or ESL preferred.
    • Provides leadership in curriculum planning, development, implementation and evaluation of World Language and ESL programs
    • Establishes short and long-term objectives for maintaining and improving World Language instruction and ESL education
    • Supervises and is responsible for the development of the scope and sequence of courses and special programs to meet district goals, standards and proficiencies and the needs of students in World Language and ESL
    • Works cooperatively with other subject supervisors to provide for articulation across curriculum areas and to improve opportunities for all students
    • Participates in the recruitment and selection of World Language and ESL personnel; conducts orientation and training for new staff members
    • Leads and conducts department meetings to provide coordination of departmental policies, procedures, methods, materials and articulation for program.
    • Assists in assigning and scheduling department members
    • Supervises and evaluates department members
    • Monitors the progress of students through analysis of assessment results, student grades or progress reports and input received from staff
    • Plans, organizes and implements staff development activities in instructional methods, curriculum content, assessment, articulation and evaluation in the areas of World Language and ESL
    • Provides assistant to school administrators and teachers in implementing programs
    • Prepares budget recommendations that support the achievement of students in World Language courses and ESL
    • Works with the textbook committee to recommend texts that are in compliance with Board Policy in choosing texts and other instructional materials.
    • Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
    • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

      Qualifications:

      Responsible to: Superintendent of Schools and/or Designee of Superintendent

      Job Goal : The Supervisor of World Language and ESL has K-12 curriculum responsibilities in the area of World Language and ESL and works with central office and building administrators in the development and monitoring of the World Language and ESL programs.

      Performance Responsibilities:

      Terms of Employment: 12 months as determined by the Board; salary and benefits as negotiated commensurate with qualifications and experience.

      Evaluation: Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of certified staff.
