- This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Bay Area and Sacramento).
- Oversees the development of metrics and monitors performance of work under PM&C. Sets and achieves department goals in support of established functional objectives. Reviews performance metrics to determine overall trending.
- Oversees process and procedure development, implementation, communications, and training for new processes and/or changes to existing processes / tools. Coaches staff to identify gaps in work methods, procedures, processes or training and partners with stakeholders to recommend solutions. Ensures consistency with related work processes, standards, and procedures. May function as a consultant or subject matter expert depending upon the needs of the various business partners.
- Manages the portfolio of assigned projects and ensures all projects are designed safely and constructed on time, on budget, on scope, and without adverse environmental or other regulatory impacts.
- Manages and forecasts accurate project portfolio costs that are aligned with annual and project budget targets.
- Proactively identifies and resolves project issues to ensure that projects stay on plan to meet overall cost, scope and schedule commitments. Ensures consistency across the organization.
- Develops workload plans and strategies to establish balanced levels of internal and external resources to support five year plans.
- Regularly meets with each project manager to review status of assigned projects with emphasis on the larger, more complex or higher impact projects.
- Works with technical Project Management teams in other departments or lines of business to effectively manage and improve the overall groups operations and processes.
- Keeps abreast of best practices in project management concepts, methods and techniques. Regularly assesses current processes and develops recommendations for continuous process improvement.
- Supervises staff to accomplish results through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.
- May supervise union or non-union employees. Direct reports may include Project Managers, Project Management Analysts, Project Coordinators or Assistants, Project Controls Analysts, Contractors, Engineers.
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience in project management, construction-related
- 6 years total relevant experience in technical project management or program management or business management in the utility industry or 3 years supervisory experience of project management, engineering and/ or construction of Transmission/Distribution projects.
- PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
- Regular travel required throughout the assigned region or service territory.
- Leadership skills in driving work progress and improving work processes.
- Electric transmission and distribution network and substation system knowledge.
- Strong project management skills; knowledge of project management concepts, methods and techniques.
- Strong project scoping and cost estimating skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Strong MS Office skills
- Experience with PowerBI/Tableau dashboard development
- Proficient in Excel, SSMS(SQL), PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams
- Knowledge of Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) Union Contract.
- Financial acumen, understanding of contingency cost estimating and its use.
- Knowledge of SAP and SRM (Sourcing) systems.
- Proficient with MS Project, PrimaVera or other project management systems.

Department Overview
Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
Electric Distribution Project Management and Controls is dedicated to the ED portfolio of electric capital construction and/or maintenance projects throughout service territory that consist of, but are not limited to Capacity and Reliability, WRO & Rule 20A, Generation Interconnection, and High Speed Rail.
Position Summary
The Supervisor, Project Controls oversees teams of Project Control Analysts. The work group may consist of all regular employees, contractors or both and is responsible for managing electric capital construction and/or maintenance projects throughout service territory. The position will lead in monitoring PM&C progress, and internal and external factors that affect the planning, forecasting and successful execution of the program work. The leaders promote a safety culture and ensure staff adhere to all company and regulatory safety practices and policies.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
Bay Minimum: $140,000
Bay Maximum: $238,000This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
