- Dietitian candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) - Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
- Foreign Education. To be creditable, college and/or university degrees earned outside the U.S and its territories must be evaluated by ACEND and meet ACEND's International Dietitian Education standards which are designed to provide graduates with the knowledge and competencies to sit for the CDR credentialing exam.
- Current VHA Dietitians that qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision may not be promoted to a higher grade if they do not meet the current RDN/RD requirements.
- Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level which are: Knowledge of nutritional standards and requirements; Ability to manage computer software programs relative to food service systems; Ability to develop training and reference materials; Ability to evaluate data to improve outcome; Ability to provide training related to food service systems technology; and Ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs:
- Skill in managing computer software programs relative to food service systems.
- Skill in applying nutritional knowledge to develop menus ensuring nutritional standards are met.
- Skill in developing training and reference materials.
- Skill in evaluating data to improve outcomes.
- Skill in providing training related to food service systems technology.
- Skill in collaborating with stakeholders.
- Ability to supervise subordinate staff (i.e., plan, organize, delegate, direct, control and review activities and performance).
- Preferred Experience: Preferred informatics experience with menu management software and at least 1 year clinical dietetics experience.

The employee in this assignment serve as a Supervisory Dietitian (Informatics) in Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. They will oversee the Nutrition Communication Center (NCC) providing administrative and technical supervision to the NCC employees.Duties
Supervisory Informatics Dietitians represent the NCC on projects, committees and/or workgroups. They supervise NCC wage grade and/or GS employees at grades GS-6 or below and provide oversight, leadership and personnel management. Supervisory Informatics Dietitians are thoroughly knowledgeable of and have full authority for planning, coordinating, and implementing food service technology into the department. They are the subject matter expert in nutrition informatics and NFS technology and use this expertise in researching, evaluating, educating, and administering the use of technology for the benefit of Veterans and employees. Supervisory Informatics Dietitians are independent in their work as they use existing and new technology to ensure continuous evaluation and improvement within the service.
