  Duties
  
  
  • You will actively supervise a technical staff comprised of civilians.
  • You will identify training needs of subordinates, initiate on-the-job training, recommend formal training necessary, provide mentoring, and develop Individual Development Plans (IDP).
  • You will evaluate performance of subordinates, including team leaders.
  • You will mentor employees in specific tasks, job techniques, and processes and develop active mentoring/coaching relationships with subordinates.
  • You will be responsible for the mechanical design of shore installation facility projects, coordinate, and direct the work of others in accomplishment of project assignments in military facilities.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category time frames.
  • You will be required to occasionally wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  
  
  Qualifications
  
  
  In addition to the basic requirements for all engineering positions, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Leading production of facilities mechanical engineering design packages, including design drawings, plans, specifications and design-build requests for proposal; 2) Reviewing shore facilities mechanical engineering design submittals to provide subject matter expert acceptance recommendations to officials; 3) Providing shore facilities mechanical engineering design consultation services to officials during construction; 4) Tracking the progress of projects to ensure that they are kept within budget and that the drawings and specifications are completed within allotted design schedules.
