      Supplemental Instructor:

      The Developmental Studies department is seeking part-time Supplemental Instructors to assist and support students enrolled in the English co-requisite (ENGL 1301 / INRW 0311).

      Supplemental Instructors (S.I.s) will be scheduled to work between 15-20 hours per week, at a pay rate of $15/hr.

      Job Description:

      Candidates must offer scheduled tutoring hours in the Writing Lab where they will assist students with class assignments. Strong time-management and organizational skills are needed. Some candidates may be scheduled to attend classes throughout the semester where they will actively take notes while participating in class activities and discussions. Candidates may work closely with students for whom English is a second language. This includes helping with translations, encouraging participation in class, and providing one-on-one tutoring. The candidate must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook and the syllabus assigned for each class.

      Qualifications:

      ● Candidates must have a GPA of 3.0 or above, with at least two semesters of college experience.

      ● Candidates must have completed ENGL 1301, ENGL 1302 or equivalent course with a grade of B or higher.

      *Please note, applicants must be Texas residents or willing to relocate. Galveston College is not registered for employment outside of the state of Texas.*
