      Supplier Capacity Management Specialist

      Main Objective:

      · Ensure capacity and readiness of the Nafta suppliers in order to secure timely delivery of right parts towards Joint Venture Factory and Mercedes-Benz plants worldwide.

      · Conduct onsite supplier evaluation, logistic audits and capacity verification audits to assess the supplier’s status according to VDA standards. Enhance the supplier’s performance to meet Mercedes-Benz / JV logistical requirements.

      · Build the team relation with Global as well as hub supplier managers to tackle complex situations of capacity management related to multiple car and powertrain plants. Also, support global supplier managers to solve the capacity crisis arising at Asian suppliers by systematic task force management.

      · Cross functional teamwork with Quality Engineers, MRP controllers, RD and Buyers to ensure suppliers meet all the MB project milestones with respect to EDI set up, production & capacity planning, warehouse, production process management and transport management.

      · Use MB standard methods and systems to manage the supplier readiness information and use reporting tools to manage timely report to higher management and Headquarters.

      · Trigger escalations during bottlenecks and whenever supplier capacity under crisis. Formulate and lead cross-functional task force team to solve the bottleneck and capacity crisis not to affect MB Carline production plan.

      · Exhibit team spirit/flexibility with colleagues/commodity supplier managers to support each other in day-to-day work.

      · Willingness of frequent travelling.

      Main Tasks:

      1. Represent Supplier Readiness and Capacity Management-Logistics in the relevant forums, coordinate and report on activities with Quality and Purchasing for assigned Commodity. Contact to suppliers in logistics-related issues, ensure distribution of relevant project information for assigned suppliers.

      2. Plan, prepare and conduct audits and initiate and track countermeasures if necessary for the assigned supplier. Take responsibility for all necessary audits (CSE, LPA und DPA support) during the ramp up phase of a new product project for the assigned supplier. Identify capacity shortages and apply countermeasures. Solve shortages in a sustainable way.

      3. Release the production process of local content suppliers of the assigned commodity from a logistics point of view based on audits results. Take responsibility for the necessary actions to assure that the suppliers are able to fulfill the Mercedes Standards by creating necessary countermeasures.

      4. Propose and introduce corrective Logistics measures to stabilize assigned supplier processes continuously (incl. Task force management). If supplier cannot be developed, escalation to Supplier Manager E4, E3.

      5. Monitor supplier planning process and process readiness status of the assigned suppliers in the new product creation phase until the end of ramp up phase, including sub-supplier management for allocated suppliers.

      Qualifications:

      1. Education:

      Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Industrial Engineering or related technical area, Master Degree preferred.

      2. Language(s):

      Bilingual German + English (Native or business fluent); Spanish (optional).

      3. Work Experience:

      Minimum of 5 years in quality/engineering activities in the automotive industry (or comparable) out of which at least 4 years were spent with supplier management/development activities, performing supplier audits, or process quality/engineering. International experience preferred.

      4. Technical knowledge:

      In depth automotive product and production process knowledge in one or several commodities. VDA Lead Auditor preferred.

      5. Corporate Skills:

      - Willingness to travel, mostly national in Mexico, occasionally US and overseas.
