      The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Safety and Security is seeking a Support Services Coordinator. Their responsibility will be to provide leadership in the coordination and administration of the security team within the UI Healthcare network. This will be accomplished by organizing, directing, supporting, and evaluating all security supervisors and the UI Healthcare network staff within the Safety and Security department. This position will directly supervise the security supervisors designated within the UI Healthcare network and will serve as overall authority for the security team. This position will collaborate with dispatch, fire safety, nursing services, University police, and all other key stakeholders to enhance safety and security within UI Health Care. They will develop new and monitor existing reporting tools to evaluate staff performance, scheduling, training, and on-boarding. This Manager will ensure all security staff maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the buildings and on the grounds of UI Health Care.

      Administration and Operational Management

      • Manage, coordinate, and oversee scheduling.

      • Provide functional and administrative supervision for security staff.

      • Directly supervise security supervisors to meet the goals and needs of our department and the institution.

      • Provide ongoing communication with staff to motivate, develop, and praise accomplishments.

      • Approves payroll, time off requests, overtime, and other types of leave.

      • Communicate with departmental leadership regarding daily operations and act as back-up when they are not present.

      • Assist University Police in criminal investigations, collection of evidence, and victim or witness statements.

      • Ensure that security staff for your respective shift are compliant with UI policies and procedures.

      • Update policies for Safety and Security department. Implements new policies and procedures with direction from the department director.

      • Oversees all ELMS scheduling for the North Liberty Hospital staff within the department.

      • Coordinate and evaluate selection and inventory of supplies and equipment.

      • Serve on various work groups and meetings concerning hospital-wide policies, problem solving, etc., especially as they relate to security.

      • Analyze, monitor, and report financial data, information, and reports. May assist with preparation of the budget. May initiate or approve fiscal transactions.

      Strategic Initiatives

      • Promote teamwork within the department and UIHC to establish and provide guidance on implementation of policies, procedures, protocols, and resources to equip teams with the tools they need to make every day a safe day.
      • Coordinate safety and security process improvement activities by analyzing data, trends, laws, regulations, etc.

      Human Resources Management

      • Coordinate plans for hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action.

      • Review applicants with Talent acquisition and department HR representatives for Safety and Security Department positions and select best candidates and participate in onboarding and training.

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in business, similar field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

      • 1-2 years of management or supervisory experience

      • Demonstrated knowledge of budget, financial, and statistical analysis and experience presenting data
      • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization.
      • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications.

      • Excellent written and verbal communication.

      Desirable Qualifications

      • Master’s degree in related field

      • Experience working in a healthcare setting.

      • Experience working in safety, security, or law enforcement field.
