- Organization funds – Surg Tech Apprentices are eligible for $4,500 in funds to assist with offsetting education expenses 90 days after their start date/being registered as an Apprentice.

- Tuition reimbursement – M Health Fairview has a tuition reimbursement program that offers benefit eligible employees’ funds to offset the costs of tuition ($5,200 per year).
- Any amount above $5,250 in combined educational benefits (tuition reimbursement/assistance and organization funds) in one calendar year will be included in taxable income.
- Work in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of a RN.
- Will be considered a team member and will be able to facilitate and or shadow some (within limits of current training) aspects of a surgical technologist as a scrub person during surgical procedures providing patient care services appropriate to the age of the patients (ages pediatric through geriatric) served during the shift of duty in collaboration with the RN.
- Will shadow the Surgeon and Advanced Practice Professional with procedures and treatments as trained and directed.
- Responsible for adhering to standards of nursing practice and patient care, correct use of supplies/equipment and maintenance of the surgical suite under the direction of an RN.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be eligible for admission or currently enrolled in a Surgical Technologist program.
- Continued enrollment with passing grades
- Required attendance for scheduled hospital shifts
- Interest in becoming a Surgical Technologist and intend to continue employment at Fairview Health Services after completion of the program.
- Basic customer service skills, clinical skills, and computer skills
- Must be able to obtain BLS certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association upon completion of the program
- Some college course work completed
- Knowledge of medical terminology, prior healthcare experience, preferably as a instrument tech, LPN, nursing assistant or other closely related field.
- Excellent customer service and communication.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

FTE: Working at the hospital 24 hours a week, attending school 2 - 4 days a week
Length: The program is 18 - 21 months
Start Date: April 3rd, 2024
Pay: $22.00 an hour, increases as you advance
Committment: Requires a one year committment after orientation
