      Nationwide Pet is the leading pet insurer in the US, providing coverage to over 1 million pets and their families. As the senior vice president of pet insurance, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic direction, vision, and execution of our pet insurance business. You will work closely with senior leaders to develop and implement innovative and customer-centric solutions that will enhance our competitive advantage, grow market share, and drive profitable results. You will lead a team of 700+ talented professionals who are committed to delivering exceptional service and value to our policyholders and partners.

      Job Description

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Develop and execute the business plan and budget for pet insurance, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.

      • Oversee the performance and profitability of pet insurance products, partnerships, and channels ensuring market competitiveness.

      • Provide strategic oversight to all aspects of the Pet operations team including product, sales, underwriting, claims, veterinary affairs, as well as matrix partners.

      • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as veterinarians, pet care providers, brokers, agents, industry associations; represent Pet with regulators and lawmakers to advocate for changes aligned to strategic goals and best serve our customers.

      • Lead initiatives to enhance pet health by increasing affordability of veterinary care, expanding care options for families, and providing expert guidance to pet care professionals.

      • Aligns resources to meet short and long-term strategic goals for the business. Identifies people strategies to support the business needs.

      • Lead and inspire the pet insurance team, foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and excellence. Promote professional growth and development, exercise delegation, and develop succession plans ensuring long-term business success.

      • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the pet insurance industry.

      May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

      Reporting Relationships: Reports to President, Corporate Solutions. Leads a team of approximately 700-800 associates.

      Typical Skills and Experiences:

      Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

      Experience: 15+ years of insurance general management or leadership role. Experience leading large-scale IT project initiatives and rapid growth transformation. Proven ability to grow operational capability of the business. Accustomed to working in a fast-paced high growth change environment.

      Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Leadership, strategic planning, product development, negotiations skills, analytical skills, public speaking, entrepreneurship, financial analysis. Ability to navigate Nationwide’s line of business and functional matrix. Ability to provide strategic perspective. Ability to plan, forecast, and deliver results; manage expenses, losses, and growth simultaneously. Comfortable in very ambiguous situations. Can manage multiple competing priorities from other areas of the organization. Persevere in high stress, high-pressure environment. Proven consumer orientation. Effective communication and relationship building with internal associates and leaders, as well as external entities. Must be articulate, professional, diplomatic, and skilled at building rapport.

      Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

      Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

      Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.

      The national salary range for SVP, Nationwide Pet : $246,000.00-$410,000.00
