      Job Summary

      The Strategic Development team answers “what’s next” for Comcast by developing strategic partnerships and discovering new growth businesses. Strategic Development identifies, negotiates, and manages strategic deals on behalf of the company, including groundbreaking partnerships with Netflix, Amazon, Google, and many others. We also source, evaluate, and advocate for strategic investments and M&A opportunities that accelerate growth of our core business or secure footholds in emerging areas. Recent businesses and products that were incubated in Strategic Development include Xumo (our joint-venture with Charter), MachineQ, Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity Prepaid, and X1.       The SVP, Strategy & Investments is a key member of the Strategic Development Senior Leadership Team, working closely with Strategic Development leadership to execute on growth and partnership opportunities for Comcast. This role reports directly to the Chief Business Development Officer and manages a robust team of strategy/investment professionals.

      Job Description

      Core Responsibilities:

      • Serves as the key executive responsible for the overall strategy, assessment, and evaluation of strategic growth and investment opportunities to achieve the organization's short and long-range goals. Coordinates with internal stakeholders and business units to ensure that strategies and investments represent interests across Comcast.
      • Works closely with and supports the CBDO on matters on setting strategy and tactics for growth & innovation.
      • Partners with SVP, Business Development to identify, strategize and develop meaningful new business partnerships.
      • Builds strong relationships and credibility with internal stakeholders, including the C-Suite, to gain support for strategic investment, partnership, and growth opportunities. Partners with divisions/regions, business units, technology, product groups and emerging businesses across Comcast to develop new opportunities to support the business strategy.
      • Stays current and applies an in-depth understanding of emerging technologies and industries to help identify growth drivers, new product concepts and gaps in existing capabilities.
      • Represents Comcast as a thought leader in the digital, media and technology communities and is attuned to emerging trends. Networks with strategy & innovation peers in other technology, media, and internet companies.
      • Manages, inspires, develops, recruits and mentors his/her team. Leads the team to think creatively and progressively about growth opportunities, proactively influence and advocate for deals/projects/initiatives and streamline internal processes/procedures as needed.

      Professional Experience & Qualifications:

      • The ideal candidate will be an experienced executive with proven success in identifying and delivering new businesses, platforms, partnerships, and business models that drive innovation and growth.
      • This executive will have a strong grasp of traditional and new media, technology and communications businesses, business models, and trends as well as a perspective on the strategies and trends of other players. Deep knowledge, experience and relationships with technology companies/Silicon Valley is a plus.
      • This leader will have proven leadership skills in building and managing a diverse team. They should be dynamic, highly collaborative, creative, positive, and influential. They possess strong communication skills and represent Strategic Development and Comcast well both internally and externally.
      • Must be willing to live/work in the Philadelphia Area and able to travel as needed.

      Education Level:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Economics or Equivalent. MBA strongly preferred.

      Years Experience:

      • Must have 15+ years of experience in corporate strategy, technology, and investments.
      • Must have 15+ years of experience in a relevant industry, such as telecomm, technology, media, and/or entertainment.
