At Franklin Templeton, everything we do is focused on one thing – delivering better client outcomes. We do that by partnering closely with our clients, assessing their strategic needs, and identifying the solution or solutions that can meet the challenge. Over 9,500 employees working in 30 countries around the world are dedicated to servicing investment solutions for our clients in more than 155 countries. For more than 75 years our success has been a direct result of the talent, skills and persistence of our people, and we are looking for qualified candidates to join our team.

The SVP/Head of Data & Analytics is a strategic role that reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), that has the primary accountability for the organization’s data and analytics (D&A) program to drive value across the company. This includes the creation and management of an enterprise D&A strategy, and execution of related programs and practices that drive measurable business outcomes. The role also involves leading the D&A and data governance functions, maturing the company D&A culture, and evolving technology capabilities.

      • Be the corporate leader of data-driven insights and use cases that help support the exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities.
      • Build partnerships with executive leadership to establish the vision for managing data as a business asset — to exploit data and analytics capabilities to drive business outcomes.
      • Lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of the organization’s data and analytics strategy in collaboration with the CIO and Head of Artificial Intelligence & Digital Transformation.
      • Implement an enterprise operating model for data and analytics that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.
      • Foster the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies, and data literacy across the enterprise. Lead these transformation efforts by developing D&A talent and maturing the capability of the organization.
      • Establish and maintain trust in data assets by implementing a data governance framework for data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications, and automated decision making.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the SVP/Head of Data & Analytics?

      Business Value and Outcomes

      • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to understand their goals and objectives. Organize, formalize, and prioritize use cases based on business value.
      • Build a portfolio of measurable business outcomes expressed in terms that resonate with stakeholders (e.g., revenue growth, operational effectiveness, or risk reduction).
      • Connect with stakeholders to identify unmet needs that expose new opportunities, and to redesign business processes and interactions as part of the digital transformation.

      Data and Analytics

This role requires a broad understanding of the full range of strategic data and analytics capabilities, and the ability to communicate these concepts, methods and techniques in ways easily understood by other stakeholders:

      • Data and analytics strategy expertise: Acumen for strategic business and technology planning and execution.
      • Data governance: MDM, data quality and data stewardship practices. This extends into data governance best practices, which touch on data security, privacy access, and other global compliance and regulatory governance practices.
      • Data-driven culture change: Play a critical role in driving and overseeing major business change to deliver enterprise value by managing major data-driven change initiatives.
      • Analytics and business intelligence: Understanding of the practical application of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics techniques.
      • Information/data architectures: Understanding and practical application and differences between data fabric, data mesh, data warehouse, data lake or data hub. Identify and manage the most important business information assets across the organization.

      Management and Operations

      • Develop, manage, allocate and govern the annual budget for the D&A function.
      • Organize and lead a D&A center of excellence, and constantly improve the organization’s capacity to develop insights with advanced analytics.
      • Oversee the development, publishing and maintenance of the organization’s data and analytics architecture and platforms, as well as a roadmap for its future development, ensuring that it matches and supports business needs.
      • Scan the horizon for emerging technologies, skills, and D&A techniques to ensure their timely introduction for competitive advantage.

What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration; computer science; data science; information systems or related field; or equivalent work experience. Academic qualification or professional training and experience in legal and regulatory areas are also desirable.
      • 10+ years’ experience, ideally in business management, legal, financial or information or IT management — recently at or near the executive level.
      • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams, multidisciplinary environments and enterprise-wide data and analytics programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
      • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and asset classes.
      • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
      • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes, and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards.

Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks.
