    • Supervise swimmers at all times, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • Minimize or eliminate hazardous situations and behaviors.
    • Enforce facility rules and educate patrons about them.
    • Work as a team with the other lifeguards, facility staff and management.
    • Assists with ensuring the pool area and equipment are kept clean and organized before, during and after lessons.
    • Assist with organizing swim activities, setting up pool equipment and managing class structure.
    • Must be at least 15 years of age.
    • Some sort of swimming experience: Swim team, a level 5 or higher of American Red Cross Swimming class are examples of previous experience. Help any previous aide positions.
    • A swim aide must be able to demonstrate competency in basic swimming skills as well as well-defined strokes; Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Elementary Backstroke, Breaststroke, and possibly sidestroke and butterfly - depending on the levels that are being taught.
    • Ability to work with coworkers, staff, community members, and children in a professional manner
    • Ability to carry out instructions, both oral and written
    • Functional capability computer skills to utilize FCPS email, and google - we use google links a lot for schedules, calendars, etc.
    • Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
    • Regular and predictable attendance.
    • 1 year of active Lifeguarding
    • Prefer Lifeguard Certification as an American Red Cross lifeguard.

      Role

      The Swimming Lesson Aide assists in providing swim instruction to participants of various ages and skill levels in a safe and supportive environment. Responsibilities include helping the instructor with class preparation, ensuring students follow safety guidelines, offering individual support to swimmers, and providing feedback to participants. The aide may assist with water exercises, monitor swimmers during lessons, and help maintain the cleanliness of the pool area. The ideal candidate will be patient, reliable, and possess strong communication skills, with a commitment to promoting water safety and building confidence in swimmers.

      Essential Functions

      • Supervise swimmers at all times, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
      • Minimize or eliminate hazardous situations and behaviors.

      Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

      Required Qualifications

      Education/Training/Experience:
      • Must be at least 15 years of age.
