Compensation Data
Pay Grade 3 – Base rate $17.20 /Hour plus production bonus
Production positions are paid a base hourly rate along with a production bonus which is calculated based on quality tons produced. All Nucor teammates also qualify for profit sharing.
As an example:
Production bonus percentage = 165% (5-year average)
Average Annual Compensation Range = $83,000 - $103,000
Profit Sharing Percentage = 18.29% (5 -Year average)
Basic Job Functions:
The basic function of the Switch Operator is to facilitate the movement of the locomotive around the yard. This includes switching tracks, coupling and uncoupling railcars, flagging crossings, and protecting the point. Other functions include weighing railcars at the scale, completing the ticket for the railcar, and releasing railcars to BNSF.
