      Description

      Provide guidance and support for OSC-SYEP youth workers while reinforcing the development of skills and knowledge that youth gain through program participation. SYEP Coaches will provide individual and group support, encouragement, guidance, advice, and instructions. SYEP Coaches play a dual role, establishing meaningful relationships with youth while reinforcing the development of skills and knowledge that youth gain through participation in the program. The youth to coach ratio will be 22-25 youth to 1 coach. The agency can recruit peer coaches to assist with staffing from the agencies SYEP pool of youth that are in the older age bracket, 19 to 24 years old.

      Essential Functions of the position:

      • Participate in SYEP Youth orientation and onboarding
      • Ensure that all required documents are submitted by the participant.
      • Track attendance and submit attendance via CitySpan
      • Meet with assigned group of youth at minimum three times per week.
      • Ensure youth workers are completing their job requirements by visiting host sites (worksites) and maintain working relationship with sites.
      • Adhere to our Chicago Youth Service Corps Learn to Lead plan.
      • Ensure youth workers are connecting and collaborating on assignments to create a capstone.
      • Provide guidance and support for youth workers while reinforcing the development of skills and knowledge that youth gain through program participation.
      • Collect time sheets from host sites/worksites and verifies that youth workers are signing in and out daily and working their prescribed hours. . Ensure timesheets are submitted to immediate supervisor before payroll deadline Friday by 5:00pm*
      • Implement and enforce Code of Conduct; Determine necessary disciplinary actions according to Summer youth employee orientation/outline.
      • Ensure youth have My Chi My Future account, and participate in workshops
      • Report complaints from host sites and/or youth worker to the Project Manager.
      • Ensure youth workers completion of the on-line financial literacy and workforce development trainings.
      • Coach youth one on one when necessary.
      • Attends weekly supervision/updates meeting with Department Staff.
      • Ensure OSC-SYEP youth and host site/ worksite partners adheres to Covid protocols outlined by the CDC, Cook County, City of Chicago, and BGCC.

      Qualifications


      Education and Experience Requirements:

      • High School Diploma/GED or experience working with youth 2+ Years.
      • Preferred Experience: Working with youth and young adults of diverse cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds.
      • Ability to work with at youth and those who are at-risk youth.
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
