      What will you do?

      We're looking for a creative, collaborative, and highly motivated researcher to help expand our synthetic biology R&D and commercial portfolio. The candidate will lead and contribute to multi-year, interdisciplinary programs that bring together teams in biology, engineering, and data science to develop and transition new biotechnology solutions in support of national security. The ideal candidate will lead and contribute to the full lifespan of technical projects from proposal development to project completion and transition.

      The candidate must have a familiarity with synthetic biology and how it is deployed in systems in use by the DoD and the intelligence community. Your research interests may be lab-based or computational. The ideal candidate has a strong background with DARPA, IARPA, or similar advanced research organizations.

      What will you need?

      A degree in life sciences, biotechnology or related fields and 10 years of progressive technical experience

      Ability to shape and lead innovative research efforts in forward-leaning technology areas

      Proven track record in formulating and leading research programs, writing successful proposals, standing up research teams, and executing successful research projects

      Track record of collaborating/networking with other scientists and institutes

      Track record of securing grants and other funding to support research

      Hands on experience with technical project leadership

      Proven experience developing successful relationships with government customers and decision-makers

      Position may require some travel; expected to be under 5% of the time

      U.S. Citizenship

      This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Ability to access U.S. only data systems

      Additional Skills that would be BENEFICIAL

      Active U.S. Top Secret clearance

      A Ph.D. in life sciences. Biotechnology or related fields
