      A Brief Overview
      Provides overall administration of radiology programs in accordance with external state and federal regulations and accepted Medical Center policies. Plans, coordinates, and directs activities of the Department of Radiology, Women's Center, and Cotton O'Neil Clinic Radiology. Recognizes and plans for the varying age specific needs of all customers. Responsibilities include program development, goal setting, developing relationships with key physicians, management of financial operations, human and material resource management & quality management.

      Education Qualifications

      • Graduate of a two-year AMA School of Radiologic Technology is required.
      • Bachelor's Degree Business or a related field. Required
      • Master's Degree Business or a related field. Preferred


      Experience Qualifications

      • 5 years Clinical or healthcare system experience. Required


      Skills and Abilities

      • Knowledge in a variety of clinical healthcare services. (Required proficiency)
      • Must demonstrate supervisory/leadership capabilities and good communication skills. (Required proficiency)


      Licenses and Certifications

      • Licensed Radiology Technologist (LRT) - KSBHA Required
      • Secondary modality registration is preferred.


      What you will do

      • Has direct responsibility for oversight of Medical Imaging throughout the health system. Establishes and maintains a collaborative and productive working relationship with the medical staff and patient care services to assure needs are being met at all times; initiates action to correct if needed. Assures SVH external radiology customer contracts are being upheld; has regular communication to assure service satisfaction.
      • Maintains a positive and professional atmosphere for patients and personnel. Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients and personnel who may be under physical or emotional stress and gather and exchange patient information with nursing personnel and physicians.
      • Oversees the daily activity of all areas of department for delivery of patient care, record retention and associated functions. Establishes and evaluates radiology services and maintains standards of quality. Assures that departmental policies and procedures are current and kept up to date. Assures that there is an organized atmosphere and pleasant appearance of the physical plant especially in those areas accessible to patients.
      • Strives for efficiency through creative staffing, cross-training and scheduling models; looks for opportunities to cross-train interdepartmental staff. Provides guidance to supervisors in dealing with their employees. Works with managers to hire, terminate, action planning and more with employees as needed.
      • Provides leadership to SVH’s Operating Committee in regard to imaging equipment purchases; stays current on technology and healthcare trends; assists in maintaining the physical property and equipment in an up-to-date and safe state of repair.
      • Conserves financial assets and manages all assigned accountabilities to ensure a positive financial operation. Develops and monitors operating and capital budgets for the department. Coordinates and plans for major projects for expansion of Radiology Services. In collaboration with Sr. Vice-President & COO, is responsible for maintaining current contracts with Radiology physicians that provide services to SVH.
      • Maintains technical expertise, coordinates and participates in formal and continuing education programs of the department, plans for initiation of new procedures and use of equipment, as needed.
      • Ensures employees follow safety procedures (i.e., radiation badges) and assures the monitoring and preparation of required reports, inclusive of radiation exposure and reporting to the State.
      • Prepares various reports and surveys of departmental activities.
      • Interacts with patients, physicians and other departments regarding complaints, problems, etc. Resolves as required.
      • Corresponds with state and national public health departments regarding infractions of equipment and determination of correction of infraction. Maintains key role in coordination of The Joint Commission and other regulatory surveys with the Senior Vice-President & COO and other SVH leadership.
      • Participates in organized professional activities and in activities, e.g., seminars, community events, etc., which promote the Medical Center.
      • Adheres to prescribed standards for Radiation Safety.
      • Responds to needs and is knowledgeable of appropriate care for neonates through erotological patients.
      • Coordinates the agenda and regular meetings between SVH Operating Committee members and Radiology and Nuclear Medicine physician group no less than bi-annually.
