      Job Overview

      M Health Fairview is looking for a System Professional Development Specialist for our Adult Emergency Department teams. This position will cover the learning and professional development needs of the University of Minnestoa Medical Center's East and West Bank Adult Emergency Department.

      This position will work 72hrs every two weeks and it is an exempt position.       The Professional Development Specialist RN - Emergecy Department improves the professional practice and role competence of nurses and other healthcare personnel by facilitating ongoing learning, change, and role competence and growth with the intention of improving population health through indirect care.

      Job Expectations:

      • Learning facilitator. Uses the educational design process and adult learning principles to bridge the knowledge, skills, and/or practice gaps identified through learning needs assessment and evaluation of outcomes, including the development of initial and ongoing competency validation processes.
      • Change agent. Actively works to transform processes at micro, meso, and/or macro system levels. The NPDS uses change management strategies and theories to drive desired outcomes.
      • Advances the profession by contributing to the professional development of others and supporting ongoing professional learning as individuals develop across practice, professional, and educational settings.
      • Influences and advocates for interprofessional practice and learning environments, the education specialty, the profession of nursing, and healthcare.
      • Champion for inquiry. Promotes a spirit of inquiry, the generation and dissemination of new knowledge, and the use of evidence to advance clinical education, guide clinical practice, and improve the quality of care for the patient, family, and/or community (the health care consumer/partner).
      • Advocate for Nursing Specialty. Actively supports, promotes, and demonstrates nursing professional development within a nursing practice specialty, including the promotion of nursing certification.
      • Partner for practice transitions. Supports the transition of nurses and allied nursing staff across practice and learning environments, roles, and professional stages.
      • Supports and partners with nursing practice professionals, nursing operations, and other stakeholders with the shared goal of achieving the organization’s mission and vision.

      Qualifications:

      Required:

      Education

      · Bachelor’s Degree

      Experience

      · 3 or more years of direct patient care experience in a relevant healthcare area

      · Experience in teaching, coaching, precepting, or training

      License/Certification/Registration

      · BLS certification

      Required Life Support by Clinical Grouping:

      · ED: PALS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, as specified by the hospital

      Preferred

      Education

      · Master’s Degree in human services, healthcare, or related field

      Experience

      · 6 or more years’ clinical experience in healthcare

      · 1 or more years education experience

      Compensation Disclaimer

      The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
