      The System Simulation Engineer II will work for the Rheem Advanced Modelling and Simulation Team, with a focus on Airconditioning, residential and commercial Water Heater products (Develop vapor compression system simulations, suggest design improvements, validate simulation results and continuous product support). This role entails the conceptualization, system model development, and qualification of new and existing technologies related to air conditioners, heatpumps, domestic potable water heating, space heating hydronic systems, and combination potable and space water heating systems. The position also entails collaboration, advisory, and joint development projects among Rheem Global operating units and/or with outside partners.

      This position will serve our Air Division, located in Fort Smith, AR or Lewisville, TX (hybrid).

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
      • 3+ years of experience in the heat transfer, mechanical design, modelling, analytics, optimization and validation methods.
      • Working knowledge of analysis & system development tools (e.g. CoilDesigner, Vapcyc, Dymola, GT Suite, ANSYS/Fluent, ANSYS/Mechanical, MATLAB, LabView, SolidWorks, EnergyPlus etc.)
      • Working knowledge of HVAC, Heat pump water heater or Refrigeration systems
      • Demonstrated ability to self-determine, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
      • Ability to communicate complex ideas in well-defined manner
      • Demonstrated ability to work constructively with all levels of internal team members, senior staff, external suppliers, and customers

      HOW TO STAND OUT

      • Master’s degree in engineering or a related field
      • Working knowledge of Vapor compression cycles and refrigerants
      • Knowledge about HVAC Rating Standards such as SEER2, HSPF2, IEER etc
      • Proven experience in the evaluation, analysis, optimization, qualification, and implementation of heat transfer and fluid flow
      • Professional Engineering License preferred

      Responsibilities

      • Construct development paths and evaluate technical solutions to new concepts including alternatives of cost, timing, and risks.
      • Create computer based simulations in the prediction of fluid flow, heat transfer, fluid-structural interactions, and structural systems for the advancement and analysis of heating and cooling products.
      • Evaluate test results in comparisons to predicted outcomes and prepare research summaries contextually relevant to the business.
      • Investigate applicability of new technologies for product valuation benefits to the company and/or customer.
      • Collaborate with development groups in translating new concepts to project initiatives.
      • Propose new design solutions for residential or commercial products.
