      Job Description

      Note: This position requires 50% + of travel. The candidate MUST reside in the state of TN, AR or MS.

      Prefered candidate will reside in the Memphis, TN, Northern MS or Southeastern AR area.

      Overview:

      • Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications, including troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure.

      • Program, configure, optimize, test, and document complex communications systems.

      • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.

      • Must have very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), and must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.

      • Must be capable of installation of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application-related issues.

      • Must have knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks

      • Must have knowledge of standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, as well as knowledge of packet-switching techniques

      • Must be highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access

      • Must have strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola’s customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams

      • Must be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision

      • Must be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations

      Preferred experience:

      • Experience in one of the following: Electronics Technician, System Technologist, System Manager, Implementation Technician, or Field Service experience with one or more of the following: LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems.

      • FCC GROL or equivalent certification

      • ETA® International CETa certification

      • Astro25 Zone Core experience preferred

      • Experience in Line and Antenna Sweeping

      • ETA® International Communication Site Inspector / Auditor (CSIA)

      Basic Requirements

      • 2 year Associate's Degree in a technical field AND 2 +years of technical experience or similar

      • OR 4+ years of technical experience or similar

      • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain background clearance if required by US government customers.
