A strong grasp of system administration fundamentals, with experience supporting infrastructure systems in at least one of these areas: networking, virtualization, cloud environments, server operating systems, or endpoint management
Familiarity with authentication, access control, and core networking concepts
Comfort using command-line tools and scripting languages in a day-to-day context
A strong desire to learn and continue professional development
Ability to manage your time, document your work, and juggle multiple priorities
Someone who works well independently, but thrives in a collaborative team
Support and maintain both cloud and on-prem infrastructure systems and services, including server hardware, network equipment, and voice infrastructure
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot systems that power university operations
Assist with development and maintenance of internal tools and system integrations
Provide Tier 3 support for escalated technical issues
Participate in infrastructure projects and multi-phase implementations
Document procedures, configurations, and operational knowledge
Be part of an on-call rotation for after-hours coverage
Collaborate with campus departments and external vendors as needed
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with practical experience OR Demonstrated success in similar roles, with or without a formal degree OR Relevant, current industry certifications that show technical depth

The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time
Ability to lift computers and other IT equipment, up to 30 pounds

Job Summary:
Do you enjoy solving real infrastructure problems, streamlining how things run, and helping technology teams stay a few steps ahead of what's coming next? PLNU is looking for a Systems Administrator to join our Systems and Network Administration team.
This team supports and evolves the university's enterprise IT infrastructure. That includes networking, servers, cloud platforms, virtualization, identity systems, and a mix of software and services that support day-to-day campus operations. This role involves both variety and depth. You'll support the systems people rely on every day while also contributing to projects that improve performance, reliability, and security over time.
You’ll be part of a team that handles core infrastructure and works closely with others across IT and the university. Whether you're helping implement a new service, supporting a new system integration, or keeping critical services running smoothly, your work helps create a solid, secure foundation for teaching, learning, and campus life.
Salary:
Pay Rate: $38.29 - $47.86 per hour
Level 1 - $79,643 per year
Level 2 - $89,585 per year
Level 3 - $99,548 per year
Internal Classification: Career Track - Technical, Job Level (1, 2 or 3)*
Actual salary and Job Level offered is determined by the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and other factors, including internal equity and university funding resources.
